Studio Sway was founded in 2007 and moved to our current location in January 2011.
Our Vision and Mission at Studio Sway
Our vision is to create a pleasing and safe place to offer classes, workshops and events in The Nia Technique™ and other movement forms that inspire our community to find health and wellness. We envision a financially stable, self-supporting studio where we can rent space, working both independently and cooperatively.
Our mission is to support the growth of teachers, students and community by providing a space in which instructors offer a variety of classes, workshops and events.
Location
Our address is 1100 San Mateo NE, and we're in the Courtyards/Ace Hardware center on the northeast corner of San Mateo and Lomas.
There is parking on both the upper and lower levels with an elevator and stairs between the levels.
We're on the lower level in space #32. We are directly beneath Mama's Minerals and across from what used to be Fremont's. View Large Map
The EveryBody Dances Emergency Fund: a community project
In December 2010, one of our Nia dancers explained that she hadn't danced much the past summer when funds were tight. She realized how much she missed and needed Nia classes. She asked if she could help us start a fund that offers a Studio Sway class card to dancers who are facing a financial downturn and really need to keep dancing.
If you're one of those dancers, please let us know, and we'll set up a card for you. If you'd like to donate to this fund, you can do so any time you're at Sway. We have a separate account set up so that any money received for the EveryBody dances fund will go directly to cards for those dancers. Big, big thanks to the thoughtful-and-anonymous donor who created this fund, and big hugs to all of us who are feeling the effects of a difficult economy, especially those who've been forced out of a job. Here's hoping we all find work we love, and here's gratitude for the abundance of a community that supports us in the meantime.
